Chieri is the PI of the University of Arizona team who will work on supplemental photosynthetic lighting and photomorphogenic lighting of vegetable seedlings (tomato, pepper, and cucurbits). Photomorphogenic lighting is a new low intensity application for which the use of LEDs may be suitable. Chieri also participates in the Purdue University’s high-wire tomato project with supplemental photosynthetic lighting.

Ricardo’s research focus is on supplemental light quality responses for vegetable seedlings and how the responses change under different background solar daily light integrals (DLI).
